Pupil Leadership at our school

At our school, pupil leadership is at the heart of personal development and empowers children to become confident, respectful and responsible members of our community. Pupils are given meaningful opportunities to lead, influence and make a difference, ensuring their voices are heard and valued. Through roles such as School Councillors, Eco Warriors, Pupil Librarians and Play Makers, children develop leadership skills, resilience and a strong sense of responsibility and children learn to work collaboratively, listen to others, respect different viewpoints and understand their role in modern Britain.

We are committed to inclusive practice and actively track children's participation in school life to ensure that leadership opportunities are accessible to all. This enables us to understand which children actively seek leadership roles and to identify those who may benefit from additional encouragement or carefully planned opportunities. As a result, we ensure that all children, including those who are quieter or less confident, are supported to develop their voice and feel valued within the school community.

Our School Council provides a democratic platform where pupils represent their peers, share ideas and contribute to decision-making, promoting the British Values of democracy, mutual respect and individual liberty.  This includes working together on being a Rights Respecting School and half termly Talk Together meetings to discuss findings from our My Voice Matters pupil surveys.  Eco Warriors take responsibility for caring for our front of school outside environment and encouraging others to act responsibly and respectfully towards the world around them. Pupil Librarians model readiness for learning by promoting a love of reading, supporting younger children and taking pride in maintaining a welcoming library space. Play Makers demonstrate respect and kindness during playtimes, supporting inclusion, positive friendships and conflict resolution, helping all pupils feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
