My Voice Matters:  Pupil Voice at our school

Gathering children’s thoughts and ideas is vital because it ensures they feel valued, respected, and actively involved in shaping their school experience. Listening to pupil voice helps us make informed decisions that support wellbeing, engagement, and positive learning outcomes.

Pupil voice is highly valued in our school and children are regularly encouraged to share their thoughts, opinions and ideas through assemblies, class discussions and whole-school forums.  Pupils work collaboratively with staff to shape the MCB Way, creating class charters and whole-school pacts that reflect how we can be respectful, responsible and ready, and how we ensure our school is welcoming for all.

Children actively contribute to shaping school life by working together with staff to create shared agreements and pacts, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.  This collaborative approach promotes the British Values of democracy, mutual respect and individual liberty, helping children understand that their views matter and that decisions are strongest when they are made together.

We also capture children’s views in other meaningful ways, including regular ‘My Voice Matters’ surveys and half termly ‘Talk Together’ pupil focus groups with our school council, ensuring every child has the opportunity to be heard and influence positive change.
