Rights Respecting School
We are on our journey to becoming a Rights Respecting School and are working towards our Bronze Accreditation from the UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) this year. The Rights Respecting Schools Award places children’s rights at the heart of school policy and practice, strengthen children's sense of belonging and voice even more.
There are four key areas of impact for children at a Rights Respecting school: wellbeing, participation, relationships, and self-esteem. The Award will recognise our achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child into practice within the school and beyond. Children’s knowledge and understanding of their rights, how they and others should be treated, and their sense of self-worth will be developed further. The Rights Respecting Schools Award gives children a powerful language to use to express themselves, to challenge the way they are treated and to challenge injustices for other children. Children will be involved in how the Award is implemented in school, led by our School Council, and will also be involved in decisions about their learning.
